He then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart , with Otto Reininger, and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe with Ludwig Schmid-Reutte.In Ludwig Schmid-Reutte's studio he met his future wife, the Hanoverian painter Gertrud Laurenz. The couple ended up together in Dachau, where they arrived in 1904. Their house on Herzog-Albrecht Street became a meeting point for artists.Felix Burgers was a passionate lover of nature and in the garden of his house he planted curious species that served as a model in his paintings. Today there is a home for people with disabilities on the property.At Dachau Felix Burgers deepened his studies at Dachau with Adolf Holzel , who was the exponent of the Dachau School. He and his wife were co-founders of the Dachau Artists Group.       Felix Bürgers 1870 Köln – 1934 Dachau Öl auf Leinwand. Signiert "Felix Bürgers" u.li. Verso auf unterer Keilrahmenleiste in Blei und Gouache bezeichnet "Prof. Felix Bürgers Dachau" und "Winterabend" (wohl alter Titel, Keilrahmen vom Künstler zweitverwendet) sowie o.re. Ein Papieretikett, darauf in typografischen Lettern mit Angaben zum Künstler versehen. In blauem Buntstift nummeriert "195" sowie "963". In einem floral ornamentierten Stuckrahmen mit eck- und mittebetonenden Kartuschen. Auf dem Rahmen verso handschriftlich in blauem Farbstift o.Mi. sowie li.o. auf einem alten Papieretikett typografisch nummeriert "3265". Felix Bürgers 1870 Köln – 1934 Dachau Deutscher Maler. Ausbildung zum Kaufmann und Umzug nach Amsterdam, dort tätig in einem Kontor der Tabakfabrik seines Vaters. Nach einer schweren Erkrankung mit 30 Jahren wandte sich Bürgers der Malerei zu und nahm ein Studium bei Otto Reininger in Stuttgart und bei Ludwig Schmid-Reutte in Karlsruhe auf. Übersiedlung nach Dachau im Jahr 1900 und Heirat mit der Malerin Gertrud Laurenz. Ihr Haus in Dachau diente als Künstler-Treffpunkt. Bei Adolf Hölzel, Vertreter der Dachauer Malerkolonie, vertiefte er sein Kunstschaffen. Bürgers war Mitbegründer der Künstlergruppe Dachau und außerdem Mitglied in der Künstlergesellschaft Allotria in München. Auch war er als Mitglied der Münchner Secession im Glaspalast mit einigen Werken vertreten. Er begab sich u.a. auf Studienreisen nach Murnau am Staffelsee, nach Südtirol und in die Schweiz, wo zahlreiche Landschaftsgemälde entstanden.

Felix also belonged to the Allotria Art Society and was a member of the Munich Secession, which on the occasion of his 60th birthday organized an exhibition of his works in the Crystal Palace in Munich.The artist remained great seasons in Murnau, in the Staltach in the Sea of the East, in the Surtirol and Switzerland, from where many of its lakes and mountain ranges.During the exhibition of his work in the Crystal Palace in Munich a fire ruined a large part of the works in his collection.A part of his work is in the Dachau Painting Gallery.On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth, a major exhibition was held at Dachau Castle, curated by his son, Hannes Burgers.A street in Dachau has his name on it.
