(to the reverse) watercolour on paper 7.7 x 11.5cm Provenance: Property of a Sheffield collector Footnote: Thomas Bunbury was born on 19th May 1791 in Gibraltar and educated in England. In March 1807, he gained a commission in the 90th Regiment and fought in the Peninsular War, where he was wounded. After the war, he considered becoming an artist, spending time in Paris. In 1822, he joined the 80th Regiment, based in Malta. It was during this time that Bunbury presumably painted the present lot.
