Burdick attended the Union Hall School in Providence, The Lowell Institute in Boston, and the Museum School of Fine Arts, Boston.In Boston to study and continue his art work, Burdick first did still-life paintings and then crayon portraits, finally turning to portraits in oil, for which he became famous. He also did a large number of landscapes in both oil and watercolor. The subjects range from New Hampshire's White Mountains to coastal scenes. He started restoring old pictures as an avocation and became an authority in the field.Burdick's paintings hang in many public buildings and his articles on art have been printed in various art journals. As the oldest living member of the Boston Art Club, he was honored by the group when his portrait of then President Coolidge was placed on exhibition at the Club in 1927.         (Over 45) Handwritten Horace R. Burdick diaries. Burdick was one of the oldest member of the Boston Art Club in 1927 which run from approximately 1868-1938 (non-paginated). Includes material relating to his daily life which includes has artwork and notes taken about the Boston Art Club in 1882. Together with a Mann's Parchment Copying Paper for the year 1927 of religious content written at his studio. A collection of letters inter-leafed into a scrapbook and a Gem photo album containing approximately (30) circa 1865 tin types. Each unidentified and was found with the Burdick diaries.         Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut,1844-1942 Depicts a winding dirt path leading towards a group of trees bathed in early morning sunlight. Burdick studied at the Union Hall School in Providence, The Lowell Institute in Boston, and the Museum School of Fine Arts, Boston where he continued his art career painting landscapes and doing crayon portraits before switching to oil portraits.
