1947 | technique: gouache on black paper | 42 x 30 cm | signature: bottom right | framed under glass Lot description Adolf Vesely - Tabor na Sazava, publishing house E. V. Marek in Prague XII. "The work "'Tabor na Sazava'" is a great example of Burian's ability to draw the viewer into the story. This work, created in the gouache technique, depicts a group of scouts in a camp, a theme that resonates with the adventurous spirit of Burian's work. A dark night, lit only by the camp light fire, creates a strong atmosphere full of mystery and cohesion, which is typical of the scout camp. In this work, Burian masterfully used the contrast between light and shadow, thus emphasizing the depth and dynamics of the scene. This image was used as the cover of the book "Tabor na Sazava" by Adolf Vesely, published in 1947. As such, it not only visually complements the story, but also stands alone as a work of art that embodies the values and ideals of scouting, such as friendship, courage and adventure.

      Est: -

Illustration by Zdeněk Burian to the story by B. Amyot: Landing in Roa-Na z Ohníčku year 24, number 2. "And we don't like weirdos ... So if he gets in our way: krik-krak ..." Zdeněk Burian has indelibly entered the consciousness of Czech teen and children's readers as he depicts the many adventures of the novel's heroes - either in books or chapters based on a sequel in one of the many magazines. With his drawings, he accompanied, for example, the titles of Karel May, Jules Verne, Edgar Rice Burroughs and Eduard Storch. However, he received international recognition only thanks to his reconstructions of extinct species of animals and plants, on which he collaborated with leading Czech experts. Technique: Watercolour, ink, paper, Signed: Lower left "Z Burian"

/ 1935 / Gouache on paper. Signed lower right “Z. Burian”. Dimensions in frame. / 40 x 28 cm This excellent Czech painter and illustrator earned international fame with his animated films and perfectly detailed and innovative gouache illustrations. This talent can be seen in the illustration presented here, a beautiful specimen of the artist's work featuring automobiles that are depicted with almost hyper-realistic precision. Zdeněk Michael František Burian was admitted to the second year at Academy of Fine Art in Prague when he was just 14. He stayed at the academy for only two years, and by 16 he was making a living as an illustrator. Burian earned international renown for his work reconstructing extinct animals and plants, which he conducted together with leading experts including paleontologist Josef Augusta, anthropologist Vojtěch Fetter and others.
