    JOSEPH BYRON (1847-1923) A portrait of the chemist Thomas Edison in his West Orange, New Jersey laboratory. Aristotype print, the image measuring 7x9 3/8 inches (17.8x23.8 cm.), with Byron's credit and an inventory number in the negative. 1904 The Byron Company was opened in 1892 by Joseph Byron. His son Percy was added as a partner later, and the two operated a successful studio in Manhattan. Much of their archive is housed in The Museum of the City of New York, including a variant of this portrait.
