Litografia a colori, Off. Graf. Ricordi & C., Milano. - Color lithograph, Off. Graf. Ricordi & C., Milano. Condition: B. Backed on linen.  55.12 x 78.74 in. Cabiria is still considered one of the most important international blockbusters, born from the partnership between the director Giovanni Pastrone and the ‘vate’ Gabriele d'Annunzio who took care of part of the screenplay. A visionary film, shot between Italy and Algeria, in which the most important scenes are immortalized by the extraordinary posters created by Caldanzano and Metlicovitz, both illustrators of Ricordi, Milan. This suggestive poster depicts the scene of the Sacrifice of Baal, one of the most intense choral moments of the entire movie in which Maciste saves the young protagonist Cabiria from being thrown into the fire by the Carthaginian priest. The care shown for the scenography, for the costumes and for the historical reconstruction, emerges with particular strength in this graphic masterpiece created by the young Caldanzano.
