    Park mit blühendem Oleander und Mimosen. Aquarell, Gouache und blauer Stift auf Papier, auf dünnem Karton aufgezogen und mit Spuren einer Goldeinfassung. 60,2 x 40,4 cm. Unten mittig signiert "GCellini". Der in Vergessenheit geratene Maler Giuseppe Cellini war eine wichtige Figur der künstlerischen und literarischen Szene Roms im ausgehenden 19. Jahrhundert. Als zeittypischer Verfechter der Grenzüberwindung von "hoher" und "niederer" Kunst betätigte er sich als federführender Maler monumentaler Dekorationszyklen, Gestalter und Illustrator. In letzterem Bereich erwies sich Cellinis langjähriger Freundschaft und Zusammenarbeit mit Gabriele d'Annunzio als besonders fruchtbar, dessen literarische Werke - der Zufall schafft hier Zusammenhang - vielfach im römischen Verlag L'Oleandro erschienen. - Wir bitten darum, Zustandsberichte zu den Losen zu erfragen, da der Erhaltungszustand nur in Ausnahmefällen im Katalog angegeben ist. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalogue.

    Di grande impatto visivo, il trittico fu eseguito dall'artista romano su commissione del comitato d'onore della città - composto da artisti e maggiorenti della capitale - i cui nomi sono riportati nei sei pannelli a contorno della grande allegoria. Il pannello centrale è composto da una grande allegoria della pace, nella parte sottostante è riportata la dedica al presidente francese Émile Loubet in visita a Roma nel 1904, dettata dal poeta Enrico Panzacchi. Loubet fu presidente dal 1899 al 1906 e il viaggio nella capitale italiana fu fondamentale per la distensione dei rapporti politici e coloniali tra le due nazioni; i due pannelli laterali raffigurano l'amicizia delle due nazioni: due allegorie di Parigi e Roma recano con loro due fanciulli che reggono rami di ulivo. Il trittico venne esposto al pubblico negozio di Corso Umberto I a Roma, e l'evento è documentato con dovizia di particolari in numerose pubblicazioni dell'epoca. L'opera è sottoposta a tutela da parte del Ministero dei Beni Culturali italiano. Olio su tavole incernierate, dimensioni chiuso 135x88x11, aperto 135x144x4,5 cm.

    This visually striking triptych was executed by the Roman artist on commission of the city's committee of honour - made up of artists and nobles of the capital - whose names appear on the six panels surrounding the great allegory. The central panel consists of a large allegory of peace, and underneath is a dedication to French President Émile Loubet who visited Rome in 1904, dictated by the poet Enrico Panzacchi. Loubet was president from 1899 to 1906 and his trip to the Italian capital was fundamental to the relaxation of political and colonial relations between the two nations. The two side panels depict the friendship of the two nations: two allegories of Paris and Rome carry two children holding olive branches. The triptych was displayed in the public shop in Corso Umberto I in Rome, and the event is documented in great detail in numerous publications of the time.
