Nachdem sich Charpentier 1889 an der Weltausstellung in Paris beteiligt hatte und mit einer Silbermedaille ausgezeichnet wurde, zeigte er 1890 zwei Hauptwerke im Salon. Darunter befand sich auch "La chanson", er gewann hierfür eine Medaille erster Klasse und den Salonpreis für die nach dem Gipsmodell ausgeführte Marmorskulptur. Die vom französischen Staat angekaufte Gipsplastik wurde danach im Vestibül des Rathauses (Hôtel de Ville) in Paris aufgestellt. 1899 zeigte die renommierte Kunstgießerei Colin in Paris, die Charpentiers Plastiken seit 1897 fertigte, erste Bronzegüsse von "La chanson". H. 37,8 cm. Silver-plated bronze. Signed. "Foundry stamp "COLIN" by E. Colin & Cie, Paris.

C'est à partir de 1890 que Félix Charpentier oriente son oeuvre et ses recherches autour de la transcription du corps féminin. De fait, ses sculptures deviennent de plus en plus naturalistes "pour faire jaillir la jeunesse des corps. FÃ©lix Maurice Charpentier (French, 1858-1924), L'Improvisateur patinated cast bronze, incised signature in the casting, along with Parisian foundry mark of Jollet et Cie to base side. 13 5/8 x 6 3/4 x 5 1/4 in. FÃ©lix-Maurice Charpentier was a French figural sculptor who studied at the Ãcole des Beaux Arts, Paris with French Academic sculptor and professor Pierre-Jules Cavelier (1814-1896). He won several medals exhibiting at the Exposition Universelle and the Paris Salon. Examples of his oeuvre can be found in the collections of the Grand Palais in Paris and the Place des Quinconces in Bordeaux. Le Maison Colin was a prestigious Parisian foundry, working with many of the top Parisian bronziers of the era. Founded in Paris in 1843, it was located at 29 rue SÃ©vignÃ©., and exhibited in various World's Fairs, including the 1893 Chicago World's Fair and the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris were it was awarded gold medal. In 1906, The Maison Colin's changed its name to Jollet & Cie, however it also kept its original name adding the wording "Ancienne Maison Collin" on all their castings until 1911. Paris" (24 x 30 cm). Provenance : offert à Eugène Fettu par ses amis en souvenir du modèle cher à son cœur qui posa pour le sculpteur ; par descendance, Touraine. A marble statue by Charpentier entitled "Bello matinado", signed and dedicated to Mr Fettu (20th century French politician) by his friends. Bibliographie : Éliane Aujard-Catot et Guillaume Peigne, "Félix Charpentier", catalogue de l'exposition au Musée Louis Vouland à Avignon en 2005. Modèle référencé sous le numéro 80. La tradition familiale rapporte que le modèle était proche d'Eugène Fettu, maire radical de Combres, conseiller-général d'Eure-et-Loir de 1910 à 1940, par ailleurs conseiller du commerce extérieur de la France. Cela explique le banquet donné en son honneur par ses amis lors de la réception de cet exemplaire et le dépôt du plâtre original à proximité de ses terres électorales, au Musée des Beaux-Arts et d'Histoire de Châteaudun. La qualité d'exécution et de conservation immaculée de cette sculpture, ainsi que sa provenance, en font l'exemplaire le plus séduisant parmi tous ceux référencés.
