      PROPERTY OF VARIOUS OWNERS measurements height 29 1/2 in. alternate measurements 75 cm patinated bronze, signed Paul Chevre and with the E. Colin & Cie pastille, insiced letter ED and BO to the underside and a further stamp JC/J224/12 NOTE A pupil of Barrias and Cavelier, Chevre made his debut at the Salon in 1891 with a plaster of his Combat de Coqs. The work received critical acclaim and was re-exhibited in bronze three years later and in marble in 1903.
