      Est: €3,000 - €4,000

EDUARDO CHICHARRO BRIONES (Madrid, 1905 - 1964). "Female bust", 1944. Oil on canvas. Signed and dated in the upper left corner. Size: 56 x 41 cm; 78 x 63 cm (frame). Half-length female portrait, resolved in realistic language, looking for the psychological capture, but providing a regionalist vision of the protagonist that is evident through the clothes, a resource that was common in Chicharro's work. The young woman, who has a sturdy, austere gesture, shows her dignity by directing her gaze directly towards the viewer or the artist, tilting slightly as her bust is not completely straight. With a loose brushstroke the author of this work configures an image of mystic atmosphere, where the treatment of the light has a great protagonism. Situated in the centre of the image, a lit candle is the only point of light in the work, so that the artist generates a rich play of light and shadow, leaving the tombs in the scene in semi-darkness.
