Born in Jamaica, celebrity and fashion photographer Walter Chin was raised in Toronto and lived in Paris before moving to New York. He has worked for numerous international editorial clients, including Allure, British Glamour, French Elle, Vogue, Vanity Fair and W. Chin's photographs have also been used in the advertising of fashion and lifestyle brands, including Clinique, Bergdorf Goodman, Lancome, L'Oreal, Tommy Hilfiger and Maybelline. His work has been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions, with exhibitions at Gallery Hans Mayer, Dusseldorf; International Center of Photographer, New York; Carla Sozzani Gallery, Milan; Tate Alexander Gallery, Toronto.

(31.8 x 45.7 cm.) Sheet dimensions: 13 ¾ x 10 ¾ in. (34.9 x 27.3 cm.) Very good condition The main image for Vanity Fair's 2000 article on then 19 year-old supermodel Gisele Bündchen, titled "Unbridled Beauty", this photograph by American photographer Walter Chin harks back to John Collier's 19th-century painting, "Lady Godiva." In Collier's Pre-Raphaelite painting, a modest Lady Godiva sits atop a white horse, her brilliant red hair her only shield against possible voyeurs. The photograph of Gisele for Vanity Fair also depicts the model atop a white horse, but while her predecessor shields her face, Gisele stares straight at the camera, daring the viewers to look away. Executed in 2000, this digital c-print is signed and dated, measuring 13 ¾ x 10 ¾ inches. Inscriptions in red ink, verso. Tape remnants on back of sheet in upper margin. Otherwise overall good condition.
