Jansen Chow graduated from Kuala Lumpur College of Art on 1991 and further his studies in Art Students League of New York from 1994 to 1996. He has been awarded 5 Signature Memberships with 5 different watercolor associations: 4 in the United States of America (AWS, NWS, LWS, NEWS) and 1 in Canada (CSPWC). He has won more than 50 national & international awards in oil, watercolor and etching including 1st Place Award in CSPWC 90th annual open juried Exhibition in Canada (2015), 2nd Place Award in 4th International Watercolor Society (IWS) Exhibition in Turkey (2015), Top 20 winning artist of IWS Albania International Competition in Albania (2016), 1st Place Award in Louisiana Watercolor Society (LWS) 35th International Exhibition in USA (2005), and 1st Place Award in CSPWC 78th annual open juried Exhibition in Canada (2003).

      Jansen Chow was born in Kuantan, Pahang in 1970. Known as a watercolourist extraordinaire, he is the only Asian artist to be known for his skill and mastery in watercolour, resulting in five Signature Membership Awards with five different associations for watercolouring; one in Canada and four in the US. Chow graduated from Kuala Lumpur College of Art in 1991 and furthered his studies in the Art Students League of New York from 1994 to 1996. This painting depicts as its moniker suggests, a black and white rendition of somewhat similar buildings with people flocking around, comparing the past and present.

      Jansen Chow is a multi-award winning artist. His work is formed by combinations of blocks of colours that centers on a vision of urban cityscapes. He finds inspiration in the places he has visited, fascinated by the sense of liveliness and energy of streets, buildings and people. Depicted from a top view, the play of light and shade, bright colours and grace are signature qualities embodied in this work, as the artist observes daily life from above. Jansen Chow won an art scholarship in The Art Students League of New York from 1994 to 1996 and he studied oil, watercolour and printmaking with many great American Masters. Jansen held 18 solo art exhibitions and took part in more than 400 national and international art exhibitions since 1992. He has won more than 65 national and international awards in oil, watercolor, photography & etching since 1988 including 9 times of 1st place in watercolor competitions in USA, Canada, Turkey & Malaysia.
