    John Clem Clarke Oil Painting

    Est: -

John Clem Clarke Oil Painting ‘Dancing Nudes in Black and White'. Clarke (1937-2021) was a highly accomplished, well listed American Mid-Century Era artist from Oregon with extensive very impressive auction records. After graduating from the University of Oregon, he traveled Europe before settling in New York City where he eventually bought a loft in SoHo and an art studio in Greenwich Village. Clarke became known for his reinterpretations of famous paintings. Using a projector he broke down images of those paintings into stencils and used sponges or homemade spray-paint cans to paint on a canvas. His works hang in a number of museums, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This particular work is in classic Mid-Century ‘black and white' framed in a complementary black wooden frame which measures a large 30 1/2" tall x 36 1/2" wide. Truly an extremely evocative artwork and a great investment.
