    Researches in the Southern Gold Fields of New South Wales 1860 by W B Clarke. Lacks the title page and the map but is in the original binding and is inscribed To Mrs C J James the discoveress of gold in 1871 in the Mount Imlay district. With the Author's compliments Dec 26 1871 W B Clarke. Clarke was the first European to discover gold in Australia (in April 1844) but was strongly advised by Governor Gipps to keep the discovery a secret which he did.
