    RARE PAINTED WOODEN WHIRLIGIG Early 20th Century In the form of two cloth and wood black men at a pump. Cloth clothing and hats. Made by Clark Coe of Killingworth, Connecticut. Mr. Coe produced many whirligigs, small dolls and larger carvings. He had his own circus with which he amused the neighborhood children. Samples of his work are shown in American Folk Sculpture by Bishop, 20th Century Folk Sculpture by Hemphill, and Wood Carvings by Klamkin. Height 25". Overall length 35". Purchased from Steve Miller American Folk Art, New York, NY in 1975.
