Carol Cohen Art for Sale and Sold Prices

b. 1939 -

Carol studied painting and design at the Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh. She also holds an A.B. Degree (1961) in anthropology and sociology from George Washington University. Her approach to glass art explores illusion of space offered by regularly spaced sheets of glass that are painted with epoxy resin strokes of pigment permanently bonded to the glass. Each sheet contains only a portion of the subject and hence the appearance of the image represented depends on viewing through all the glass plates at one time. The illusion created is something like that of a hologram. Carol’s method of locating the points where paint needs to be placed on each sheet seems akin to constructing a topographic map on multiple and regularly arranged sheets of glass. Cohen's works are in public museums and collections through the U.S and from Japan to Switzerland. Some of Cohen's art is large in scale and sited in public spaces. The Sheraton Hotel in Boston and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston both own examples of her large-scale public art
