Susie Cooper Art for Sale at Auction

b. 1902 - d. 1995

One of the most influential ceramicists of the 19th century, artist Susie Cooper continually set trends throughout her life and career. Born in 1902, she took an early interest in art, eventually earning scholarships at the Burslem School of Art and the Royal College of Art in London. From there, she worked with A.E. Gray from 1922 to 1929, quickly moving up from production line painter to art director.

Ceramic artist Susie Cooper established her own company in 1929, and despite a difficult worldwide economic era, demand for her ceramic art grew. Her work was marked by floral patterns, bold colors, intricate geometric shapes, and her most well-known pattern called Dresden Spray.

She was recognized with multiple honors in the 1940s and 1950s and kept creating pottery and bone china until the early 1970s, when she exclusively worked as a designer. Bring bold texture to your home or office with vibrant vintage ceramic art for sale at auction.
