Painter, Wall painter, Etcher, b. 1913 - d. 2002

Born in 1913 in Stoke-on-Trent, England, artist and painter Leslie Cope immigrated with his family to America in 1931. Son of master potter and designer Sidney Cope, Leslie initially embarked on a career as a mosaic and tile designer. Cope enlisted in the Army Air Corps where he was assigned the demanding task of painting camouflage during WWII. Upon returning from military duty in the South Pacific, artist Leslie Cope gave up pottery design altogether and began exclusively working in other mediums.

Cope produced a myriad of artworks stylized between Realism and Impressionism. His main subject was rural landscapes, depicting farm life in Ohio, from the workhorses to rustic barnyards. In addition to purchasing  Leslie Cope's landscape paintings, audiences snapped up his seascapes and harbor scenes created when he traveled yearly to Gloucester, Massachusetts.
