      COPPOLA, HORACIO (1906-2012) [Doll] Untitled, Berlin, 1932. Gelatin silver print, 8 3/8 x 11 5/8 inches, likely printed 1960s, verso signed, titled and dated in pencil. Very light wear to the edge of the print, a minor retouched mark noted in the upper left quadrant.       signed and dated by the photographer in pencil and titled, dated, numbered '35,' and annotated in unidentified hands in pencil and blue grease pencil on the reverse, 1936 Horacio Coppola, an Argentinian, met Grete Stern in Berlin in 1931 after they both studied photography with Walter Peterhans. During the 1930s, he composed imaginative, surreal still-lifes, based on principles he learned from Peterhans. In 1933, Coppola and Stern moved to London, and in the mid-1930s, they settled in Argentina and married.
