According to Corsaut-Brosz, Mr. Coursaut came to California in 1956 after spending eight years studying under well-known artist Robert Brackman and others at the Art Students League of New York City. Mr. Corsaut chose the independent art school after receiving admission to Yale and a scholarship to the Kansas City Art Institute. In realist style, the artist has painted nudes and still lifes and created bronze sculptures. His bronze of John Wayne stood in the White House during the Reagan presidency and in 1993 he was commissioned to create the Presidential Medallion for President Clinton. His John Steinbeck bronze is at the entrance to Cannery Row in Monterey, and a full-size bronze of Ignacy Jan Paderewski is on the University of Southern California campus. He was awarded the Scopus Medal by Nancy Reagan in Washington, D.C., for his John Wayne and Native American sculptures.He is currently a resident of Pacific Grove, CA.

        Jesse Corsaut (Born 1929) "John Wayne, Rio Grande" Bronze Sculpture. Jesse Corsaut was born in Kansas in 1929 and lived in Hutchinson. He had a one-man show in Topeka at age 14. He later studied in New York City at the Art Student League and Columbia University. In realist style, the artist has painted nudes and still life's and created bronze sculptures. His bronze of John Wayne stood in the White House during the Reagan presidency and in 1993 he was commissioned to create the Presidential Medallion for President Clinton. This sculpture depicts John Wayne as Lieutenant Colonel Kirby Yorke, from the film "Rio Grande". Wayne heads a cavalry post on the Texas side of the Rio Grande, defending settlers against Apaches launching raids from the Mexican side of the river. When Yorke's 16-year-old son, Jeff (Claude Jarman Jr.) --- who he has not seen since he was a baby -- shows up at the post as one of the new recruits, he treats him more harshly than the others. Things are further complicated when Yorke's estranged wife, Kathleen (Maureen O'Hara), returns to take her son home. Total weight is approx. 54 pounds.
