L.N. Cottingham 1787-1847 Architect of the Gothic Revival 1996, p.33, fig. 129 Note: According to Myles (unpublished thesis), Cottingham delivered the twenty chairs to Lord Brougham on 2 August 1844. Other chairs from the set are in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (W.2:1, 2-1992) and the Cooper Hewitt, New York.

        Attributed to Lewis Nockalls Cottingham, noted English Georgian architect, circa 1787-1847, octagonal oak top with string inlay center medallion and border bands over reticulated floral band skirt. Four architectural reticulated carved gilt wood supports radiating from center post, each ending in carved ribbed column. Two columns with twist design. Stepped base. Overall 30.5" h. x 28.5" top dia. Condition: Stains, scratches, and wear to top. Wear and loss of gilt decoration.
