      Philip Sutton Cox AO RAIA (Australian b.1939) 'Life 1966' Original Mixed Media Sculpture Organic form polished and glazed wood raised on glazed slate base. Signed to brass plaque affixed to slate base 'Life' Phil Cox 1966', height, 21 cm, 23.2 x 8 cm base. Philip Cox has received numerous awards in recognition of his contribution to architecture, including the Sir Zelman Cowen Award, the RAIA Gold Medal in 1984, Life Fellowship to the RAIA in 1987 and Honorary Fellowship of the American Institute of Architects in the same year. In 1988 he was awarded the Order of Australia for services to architecture. In 1993 he received the inaugural award for Sport and Architecture from the International Olympic Committee, and is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities. Notable works include the Australian National Maritime Museum, Sydney Football Stadium, Rod Laver Arena,Singapore Expo and Sydney Olympic Park.
