Chico Cristobal Sold at Auction Prices

As an artist, I believe that one of my functions is to make a statement that will resonate powerfully with others. I use my art to communicate an idea, an emotion, or a purpose. This product of self-expression may help others because there will always be people who feel the same way, but are unable to express it themselves. I would like for these people to identify with me and draw encouragement, purpose, and excitement about what is being stated. The process is something that I enjoy immensely. I developed a non-objective style of abstract painting where I explore the elements of art--lines, shapes, space, colours, and the aesthetics of the common and the ordinary. I play with the juxtaposition of geometry and the idea of the golden ratio and true beauty. Art is about self-expression because it is essentially about trying to put an idea into a form that the artist and others can come to terms with, just like poets, musicians, actors, and visual artists, who all have a desire to express what one feels and create something of significant value.

There is a universal desire to connect with others in some way; to tell them about one's self. Creativity is fun; and my work an exploration of nature and music. The thrill of mixing colours on a palette, applying paint to a canvas, and passing the hours in a studio with my favourite music playing in the background, all these allow me to joyfully create pieces with vivid patterns and a bold colour palette. The important subject of my paintings are the expression and the sincerity of my soul understanding that I am a human being, just like any other human being on earth. I believe that I, just like others, came to this world to share something impactful, meaningful, and everlasting.
