Very good condition Provenance Lehmann Maupin, New York. With Surrealist imagery, this watercolor by American artist Bryan Crockett creates a dynamic dream-like narrative. The left of the composition depicts a man with his head ingrown into the tree; Crockett created a sculpture of this same imagery. With the same title, the 10-foot tree on a rock contained a self-portrait of the artist with his head grown into the structure. This work was the central sculpture at Lehmann Maupin’s 2005 exhibition, “Drawn Out of My Mind.” Bryan Crockett (American, b. 1970) Born in California, Bryan Crockett studied at Yale University. His work has been included in numerous exhibitions, including shows at Tate Liverpool and the Brooklyn Museum. Crockett has also exhibited at Kunsthalle Basel, Exit Art, Fotouhi Cramer Gallery, and the 1997 Whitney Biennial. In that same year he was the recipient of the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award. The artist currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Condition 1 in. loss left margin. Otherwise good condition. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
