David Czarinski Sold at Auction Prices

A native of Plattsburgh, NY, studied and worked in Europe, studied at Art Students League, New York City where he ran a graphic workshop in the summers, studied under Jim Linsell in England and Bob Blackburn's Printing Studio. Also studied classical ceramics at an Albany, NY studio and again went to Germany to study paintings and woodcuts. He illustrated a series of Carl Sandburg's children's stories published by Holt, Rinehart & Winston. His work was also supplied directly to the Bergdorf Goodman Gallery. His imagery was one of dynamic poetry, whether in the landscape prints or in the figurative monoprints he did. He used color in prints to counter the deep relief and sculptured line of his zinc etchings and to set the mood of the monoprints. Information gathered from materials included in his portfolios, which was purchased in total after he disappeared from his Plattsburgh studio. The studio was held for seven years then sold. We purchased the body of his remaining work. To this day, Czarin has not been found and no knowledge of his whereabouts has surfaced.
