    ANTE DABRO (1938-1999) (Figures) 1975 bronze and resin signature and date incised at base: DABRO 75 19 x 32 x 22cm PROVENANCE: Private collection, Melbourne OTHER NOTES: Ante Dabro is a Croatian born Australian artist who has lived and worked in Canberra since the later 1960s. Dabro's sculptures are typified by angular form with a focus on the human figure. His work is said to embody universal themes including suffering, hope, sexuality, heroism and spirituality. Many of Dabro's public sculptures are visible across Canberra, these include, Royal Australian Navy Memorial 'Sailors and Ships - Interaction and Interdependence' (1986) that was unveiled by Queen Elizabeth II on the 75th Anniversay of the Navy, 'Contemplation' (2002) at the Australian National University and 'Genesis' (2009) at Brindabella Business Park at Canberra Airport.
