    Maxime David 1798 Châlons-sur-Marne - 1870 Paris Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld-Koháry, Duchess of Nemours Signed on the left side. Watercolour and opaque paints on ivory. 3.7 x 2.8 cm (in the high oval) cm. Mounted on thin cardboard. Damage to the gold frame, min. 750 (3.9 x 3 cm). Prinzessin Viktoria von Sachsen-Coburg-Koháry heiratete 1840 Louis dOrléans, duc de Nemours (1814 Palais Royal, Paris - 1896 Versailles). Die Miniatur sollte Bestandteil eines Armbandes (Bracelet) gewesen sein. In der Collection Royale in Brüssel befindet sich ein aufwendig gearbeiteter, mit Türkisen besetzter Armreif, in welchen eine sehr vergleichbar gefasste Porträtminiatur von Louise dOrléans, der Schwägerin der Dargestellten, eingesetzt ist (Inv.-Nr.     Maxime DAVID (1798-1870) TROIS PORTRAITS DE L'ÉMIR ABD EL-KADER (VERS 1852) Miniatures ovales sur ivoire, signées au milieu à gauche, dans un même encadrement. Étiquette au dos : Inventaire Mesnard . Ces portraits ont probablement été exécutés pendant la détention de l'Émir au château d'Amboise en 1852. Dim. de chaque miniatures : 7 x 5,5 cm Émir Abd el-Kader, 1808-1883 PROVENANCE : Collection Léonce Mesnard qui épousa en première noce Marie David, fille de Maxime David. RÉFÉRENCES : Trois portraits répertoriés de l'Émir ont été exécutés par Maxime David durant sa détention au Château d'Amboise (source : Château de Versailles et de Trianon) un portrait vu de profil, 14 x 11 cm, un portrait vu de face, 26,5 x 11 cm, un autre portrait vu de face, 21 x 15 cm. Ces trois portraits peints sur ivoire et signés de Maxime David seront exposés au Salon de 1853 ainsi qu'à l'Exposition universelle de 1855, aujourd'hui conservés au musée national des Châteaux de Versailles et de Trianon. Les nôtres sont une autre version, différente par la taille et la composition.
