Oil on canvas. Origin: Madrid, Granados Collection; Particular collection. Bibliography: Del Campo, J. and Palencia, JM, The splendor of the Andalusian baroque. Granados Collection, Cordoba, Caja Sur Foundation, 2007-2008, Seville, Hospital de la Caridad, 2008, early 66-67. Pedro de Camprobin is one of the main representatives of still life painting in the city of Seville, although his training took place in Toledo with the painter Luis Tristan. His work evolved from a naturalism with a strong tenebrist imprint, as demonstrated by the Still Life preserved in the Meadows Museum in Dallas, towards a much more personal style in which the influence of local tradition is evident, exemplified by the works of Juan de Zurbaran, creating a type of elegant, austere and expressive still life. His paintings tended towards sober and reduced color palettes, often featuring some elements typical of flamenco art such as the presence of butterflies and insects. The painting presented here, which once belonged to the Granados collection, is a good example of the sobriety that characterizes his still lifes. On a table we found a crystal glass, a bunch of radishes, cheese, a bottle of wine, some peaches and a loaf of bread arranged. The masterful modeling of these objects, built through a subtle gradation of light, allows him to capture their different material textures such as the transparency of glass or the velvety surface of fruits. The same qualities and models that we observe in the present painting, such as the cup and the peaches, can be found in other works by Camprobin such as in the Basket with Peaches and Plums in the Prado Museum (P007916). Also the same bottle, although turned upside down. In a different way, we find it in a Still Life, formerly in the Raleigh, North Carolina Museum of Art, and in two other compositions of his dated 1663 that were in a private collection in London and later passed to Switzerland. Also, in the distribution of elements of its composition and in the qualities of some objects such as the cheese, the glass cup or the loaf of bread, it presents a very close formal parallel with a Kitchen Still Life, of identical measurements, which was in a private collection from Madrid and which a few months ago was acquired to form part of the collections of the Prado Museum. Measurements: 80.5 x 102.5 cm.

Pair of oil paintings on canvas. One of them signed. They come with baroque style frames in carved, polychrome and gilded wood. Attached is a certificate issued by Enrique Valdivieso on April 4, 2011. Origin: - Madrid, private collection. Reference bibliography: - Cherry, P., Art and Nature. The Spanish Still Life in the Golden Age, Madrid, 1999, early 262-267; - Luna, JJ, The Spanish still life in the Prado, Museo Nacional del Prado, 2008, early 158-159. Although his training took place in Toledo with the painter Luis Tristan, Pedro de Camprobin is one of the main representatives of still life painting in the city of Seville. His paintings tended towards sober and reduced color palettes, often featuring some elements typical of FLEMISH art such as the presence of butterflies and insects. The lightness of the touch of his brush is observed in this beautiful pair of still lifes, in which the painter's taste is perfectly appreciated when it comes to harmoniously distributing the volumes of his compositions, predominating a characteristic landscape rhythm. In them an interesting volumetric contrast is observed that is common in the painter's works, in which he uses the free spaces on the sides of the table to place a small pair of glass vases with flowers and on the opposite side a stem and a fallen white flower. His floral arrangements are typical of his production, predominating botanical species such as: roses, sunflowers, irises, tulips, Indian carnations or carnations; a series of bouquets that were common in the great houses of the time. In his flower paintings, Camprobin, far from wanting to represent the greatest variety of botanical species, avoids filling the pictorial field with his presence, leaving his vases surrounded by air and space. The light that illuminates them is soft and with slightly muted colors that cause a strange and serene timeless beauty and a calm atmosphere that was highly appreciated by the Sevillian clientele of the time. Thanks to compositions like these, he became the main painter of flowers and still lifes in Golden Age Seville, monopolizing the demand for this type of work in the city after the death of Juan de Zurbaran in 1649. Measurements: 63 x 93 cm. each

Pair of oil paintings on panel Both signed in the lower right corner "Po De Camprovin passano. fat". The fruit still life with inscription on the back in ink: "Godoy" Bibliography: -Romero Asenjo, R., “The Spanish still life in the 17th century: revealing its hidden nature”, I&R, Madrid, 2009, p. 205, f.3 Provenance: With Nicholas Hall, New York, 2017-2018 Private Collection, Madrid This pair of still lifes by Pedro de Camprobín are an example of the elegance and quality with which the painter cultivated this genre, being one of the main figures of this type of painting in Spain in the 17th century. The tables must have been painted in Seville around 1652, given the similarity of one of them with the “Plate with apricots, cherries and plums” (1652, oil on canvas, 36.5 x 46.5 cm; Naseiro Collection), with the one that presents the same composition with slight variations in the elements that compose it. Despite the fact that he must have been a fairly prolific painter, since he is regularly mentioned in the inventories of his time, few are the preserved works of his hand. We know about his career that he was initially a disciple of Luis Tristán in Toledo, but in the year 1630 he appears already installed in the city of Seville, where he lived until his death, becoming one of the founders of the Seville Academy of Painting. His work follows the tradition of the genre in Seville, in the wake of by Francisco and Juan de Zurbarán, with a sober and reduced color palette and a strong chiaroscuro, although with a more casual air in the collation of the elements. In addition, we must add the evident knowledge of Juan de van der Hammen's models, perhaps due to an undocumented trip made to Madrid. Measurements: 32.5 x 51 cm and 32 x 51 cm with a sober and reduced color palette and a strong chiaroscuro, although with a more casual air in the collation of the elements. Est: €22,500 - €30,000

Oil on canvas. One of the main figures in the Spanish still life genre of the 1600s is Pedro of Camprobin. From his professional career we know that he was initially a disciple of Luis Tristán in Toledo and that, in the year 1630, he appears already installed in the city of Seville where he lived until his death. His few preserved still lifes, such as the "Still Life with Birds" at the Meadows Museum in Dallas, are an example of an elegant and austere expressiveness that the painter resolves through a sober and reduced color palette, in which the objects are presented in an atmosphere of accentuated chiaroscuro. These same characteristics can be seen in this canvas whose sobriety, monumental symmetry, spatial sense or the humility of some elements, such as the wicker basket, place him in the same tradition as painters such as Sánchez Cotán or Zurbarán; The knowledge of Juan Van Der Hamen's models, which he was able to learn about during his stay in Madrid, attributed to him by some historians, is also evident. Measurements: 60 x 98 cm.
