French artist Paul De Longpre began his career at an early age, painting flowers on fans at a Paris company when he was only 12. By the time he moved to New York in 1890, his name was known and respected in the art world. Paul De Longpre's paintings of floral arrangements were primarily done in watercolor, and he had a particular fondness for roses.

Artist Paul De Longpre made sure he included details in his floral pieces, adding bees and using light strokes to bring out the delicate feel of the petals. In 1898, he built a large home in Los Angeles, and the gardens contained over 4,000 rose bushes. Paul De Longpre's artwork for sale includes a series of postcards depicting the gardens and home on his estate.
