Michetti, Museo di Palazzo San Domenico in Francavilla al Mare, July-August 1963 (two labels on the stretcher) Provenance: Galleria Galatea, Turin (with label on the stretcher frame); private collection, Italy Condition: The drawing is fundamentally in a good condition, with small loss of color, rubbed spots, small scratches and marks in some places. The individual sheets show tiny pinholes and tiny damages to the edges. The frame shows usual traces of age and wear as well as occasional loss of material mainly to the edges. Beppe Devalle (1940-2013) The Turin-born painter and graphic artist Beppe Devalle studied at the Accademia Albertina in his hometown stage decoration. Later he himself taught form theory and painting at the Accademia di Brera in Mailand. His oeuvre presents paintings, drawings, illustrations and photomontage among others. Devalle was temporarily influenced by Paul Klee and later by the US-American pop art. He illustrated among others the 'The Catcher in the Rye' written by Salinger and in the 1960s Devalle created large scale geometrical compositions until he dedicated himself to portraits and still lifes.
