A classic example of Neue Sachlichkeit (the New Realism). The full-size image of a slightly-opened box, shows how far a brand like PKZ after years of great advertising could still go. It was no longer even necessary to show the products for sale, it was the excitement and anticipation evoked by the visible PKZ label that lent this poster its effectiveness and strength. Its indirect intimation and suggestiveness make it a truly modern poster. Condition B+: repaired tears at edges, some into image; creases, abrasions and restoration in margins and image; slight time-staining at edges; small replaced losses at edges. Diggelmann opened his own studio at the beginning of the 1930s. He specialized in sports and tourism posters, working for fashionable resorts like Gstaad, Klosters, St. Moritz and Interlaken. His varied oeuvre included classical and stylized landscapes, the famous white rabbit of St. Moritz, Neue Sachlichkeit and more. In addition, he designed advertising posters for prominent Swiss companies like PKZ, Kaffee-Hag and Orange Frutta. This poster also comes in an English version that says "Aug. 9th. Swiss Swimming Championships" at the bottom. This is the German version. Rare.

Framed. Diggelmann opened his own studio at the beginning of the 1930s. He specialized in sports and tourism posters, working for fashionable resorts like Gstaad, Klosters, St. Moritz and Interlaken. His varied oeuvre included classical and stylized landscapes, the famous white rabbit of St. Moritz, Neue Sachlichkeit and more. Here, he employs an elegant, mannerist, Art Deco style. Taking a cue from the depicted mountain, the Jungfrau (Young Woman), he portrays the outline of a woman's head, rouge and lipstick meticulously applied, with a strand of pearls around her neck, all against a metallic silver rendition of the surrounding mountains.
