Paul Sanford Dillon Art for Sale and Sold Prices

Painter

Paul Dillon (born 1943) was based in Los Angeles while he was active as an artist in the 1970s and 1980s. His works from that time subject pop culture imagery to various disfiguring acts as a form of conceptual hazing. In this work, a painted X covers the reproduction of a Dagwood comic that was originally drawn by his uncle, James Raymond, suggesting perhaps an oedipal conflict between the two artists and their approaches to art making.

Dillon's work was shown at Asher Faure Gallery; L.A. County Museum of Art; Museum of Modern Art, New York and many other prestigious venues. He is the father of the actors Matt and Kevin Dillon.
