      Stanley "BARNABUS" Ditchfield English (1922-2010)

      Est: $300 - $600

Stanley "BARNABUS" Ditchfield English (1922-2010) Oil on Canvas. Titled "Mediterranean View". Signed in lower left. Signature on his paintings is simply "BARNABUS". BARNABUS' paintings first gained recognition when the artist was eight years old. His art teacher, with an astute eye, proclaimed he had a unique talent, which would absolutely lead him into a painting career. She was right, of course, but didn't predict it would take over sixty years to get started. In his eighties and retired, BARNABUS looked back on much of a lifetime involved in other things, including service as an RAF combat pilot, sixteen years with Readers Digest in management, president of an advertising agency, outreach director for a worldwide religious organization, radio/TV broadcaster and communications consultant, among other things. He described his work as somewhere between realism and impressionism and painted almost exclusively with a palette knife producing an amazing level of detail. Many of Florida's best high-end interior designers used his work with many being featured in Florida Design Magazine. Overall Size: 39 1/8 x 47 in. Sight Size: 31 1/2 x 39 1/2 in. Frame Thickness: 1 1/2 in. #5831
