Christopher J.T. Dixon was born 1962 Hartford Connecticut: Dixon graduated from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston in 1987 and completed the school’s fifth year program in 1990 with a concentration in landscape painting. Dixon was awarded ‘’The Dana Pond Award for Painting” in the 1990 Student Annual Exhibition. Dixon grew up on the Connecticut shoreline developing interests in the rich history and beauty of Long Island sound and the Southern Connecticut river valley; a favorite subject for the impressionistic painters of the Old Lyme artist colony. Artists such as Childe Hassam and Willard Metcalf and others of that time period provided Dixon with a variety of visual interpretations of a landscape familiar to himself. In 2003 and 2004 Dixon studied with plein air artists George Strickland, John Budicin, and Matt Smith and other instructors from the Plein Air Painters of America in two consecutive workshops hosted by the Lyme Art Association.
Dixon is presently an elected member of the Lyme Art Association and the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society as well as having memberships in the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts and the Academic Artists Association. Dixon has exhibited his work in juried shows through out New England and New York.
