      • Tara Donovan, Untitled, Ink on paper, 51 7/8" x 42 5/8"
        Sep. 21, 2012

        Tara Donovan, Untitled, Ink on paper, 51 7/8" x 42 5/8"

        Est: $15,000 - $20,000

Tara Donovan Untitled Ink on paper 2008. Provenance: the artist and Pace Gallery, New York. Donovan's work engages in a lively dialogue with the legacies of artistic movements of the 1960s and '70s such as assemblage, post-minimalism and scatter art, while bringing an entirely new perspective to her chosen materials through an almost obsessive-compulsive method of repetition and accumulation. Her works have gained renown for the way in which they often spark immediate and visceral responses from viewers. Untitled (2008) is a single-edition print made from a pane of shattered glass. It was included in the IMA's 2010 exhibition Tara Donovan: Untitled. Tara Donovan was born in 1969 in New York City, where she currently lives and works. Donovan received a BFA from Corcoran College of Art + Design, Washington D.C., in 1991, and an MFA in sculpture from the Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, in 1999. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (2007), the Saint Louis Art Museum, St. Louis (2006), and the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego (2004), among others. Donovan's installation Ripple was featured in the 2000 Whitney Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. Donovan was the recipient of the Alexander Calder Foundation's first annual Calder Prize in 2005 and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Fellows Program (nicknamed the "genius") award in 2008. 51 7/8" x 42 5/8"
