On a purely voyeuristic level, there are plenty of reasons to appreciate this Dorda design for the Théâtre du Rire-the scrumptious exhibitionist is an obvious choice, but the manner in which she's playing with her societal archetype dolls while holding a mirror up for them to see their folly reflected back at them comes in as a close second. Yvette Guilbert even makes an unconventional cameo at the far bottom. But for all of the merits that the poster may possess, it's interesting to note that those efforts may have been for naught. Because even though the text announces that the establishment will be "Opening Soon," the "Theater of Laughter" never seems to have opened their doors. Or if they did, they were quickly closed without much fanfare as no trace of its existence appears to have been chronicled. Rare!
