Parke Custis Dougherty was an oil painter from Pennsylvania who studied at the Academie Julien in Paris and exhibited works at the St. Louis World’s Fair and the Panama Pacific Exhibition. His subject matter ranged from portraits and figures to landscape, genre and nocturnes. He was associated with the Philadelphia Sketch Club. His works showed influences from painting traditions of the French Barbizon school (c. 1830-1870).
