Robert Spear Dunning Table Top Still Life Painting

    Est: $2,000 - $3,000

MASSACHUSETTS, 1829-1905 A fine oil on canvas still life painting of fruit by Robert Spear Dunning. The work depicts a cluster of white and red grapes with a peach on a mahogany table top with a carved edge. Notice the subtle reflection of the grapes and peach casting a warm hue on the surface. Dunning effectively placed three loose grapes in the foreground with one having a pendulous affect on the viewer. Dunning was a founder of the Fall River School and is regarded as one of America's most prominent still life artists. The work is signed on the verso "R.S. Dunning" and dated "1891".
