ALICE M. DUTTON (American, 1862-?) Rocky Shore Seascape. Watercolor. Signed lower right A.M. Dutton. Good condition. Painting measures 19½" x 17¾". Frame measures 26" x 20¼". From AskArt: "Alice Muzzey Dutton was born in Newburyport, Massachusetts August 2, 1862. She was the daughter of Benjamin Dutton, a ship builder and Harriet Small. Alice was best known for her watercolors. She lived in Boston, New York City and Miami Beach. There is no record that she married, and she probably died without issue. The last record of her was on the 1930 census in New York City. Active as a painter in both New York City and Boston between 1895 and 1919, Alice Dutton exhibited at the National Academy of Design between 1897 and 1898, and the Boston Art Club from 1895 to 1898. She was also a member of Boston's Copley Society."
