18 karat yellow gold Berlin, Germany, 20th century Gebhard Duve (1899-1977) – Germany artist Inside hallmarked with ‘750/1000’, ‘Gerhard Duve_Berlin’ and ‘435’ 64 carré cut sapphires with a total weight of c. 3.4 carats 4 ruby cabochons with a diameter of c. 7 mm Total weight: c. 222.10 grams Dimensions: 8.5 x 7 cm Good condition Valuable box with precious stones and a mirror element in the interior Condition: The box is in good condition with usual signs of age and wear. Three sapphires are missing, injuries and minor scratches here and there visible. The total weight measures c. 222.10 grams and the dimensions are 8.5 x 7 cm. It has been common and accepted practice for hundreds of years to enhance color and clarity of colored gemstones by the use of different treatments. Only if such a treatment can unequivocally be excluded from gemstones they are stated as “untreated”. (Not applicable to diamonds) All gemstones were examined in mounted condition using different gemmological devices. If there is a certificate available it is stated in the description. Gebhard Duve (1899-1977) Gebhard Duve was born in Osterwieck in 1899 and grew up in Switzerland. He studied in Munich and Cologne, was a painter, interior designer and designer who participated 1927 in the exhibitions of works of art in Berlin and Triennial Monza. He created designs for Margraf & Co. in Berlin and build ibidem a goldsmith's workshop. In 1947 he emigrated to South Africa and lived in Johannesburg. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
