The History of the Coronation, illustrations, compliments slip with dedication to Eccles from Castleton Knight to front pastedown, 1952 § Sitwell (Maj.-Gen. H.D.W.) The Crown Jewels..., number 74 of 99 copies signed by the author, colour plates, captioned tissue guards, black & white illustrations, Dropmore Press, 1953, first original morocco-backed boards, gilt cypher of Elizabeth II bordered by representations of the beasts to upper board, last original half morocco with gilt crown to upper board, second original cloth, each a little rubbed, last slip-case; and 18 others, v.s. (21) ⁂The note in first reads: "My dear Eccles | Here is a copy of the | 'Queen's Beasts'. I hope | that it will come up to your | expectations. Everybody should be grateful to you for your inspiration in securing them for the Coronation. | Yours | Hopwood". David McAdam Eccles, 1st Viscount Eccles (1904-99) Conservative politician; as Minister of Works he organized the 1953 Coronation. Castleton Knight (1894-1970) film director and producer: his most celebrated work, A Queen is Crowned, the film of the 1953 Coronation.
