Condition: Canvas itself is in very good to excellent condition, nicely varnished and stretched. There is some very minor age-related paint loss just around the edges of the canvas. Canvas needs a slight cleaning. Frame is not original, with some paint wear in the upper margin and age spots throughout. Artist: Gyula Éder (Hungarian, 1875 - 1945). Condition: Very good, see description. Created: Early 20th century. Frame: Ornate silver gilt molded wood. Medium: Oil on canvas. Paperwork: Not provided. Signature: Lower-right "Eder Gyula". Parts of this composition thus remind of Actaeon’s legend told by Ovid: while hunting, Actaeon surprises the goddess Diana taking a bath. Thereupon, she transforms him into a stag. The dancing figures on offered paining are however depicted rather blurry. This could also indicate that they are a dream image of the two men, who dream of the young women on the forest clearing. Condition: The painting is in a very good condition with slight signs of age and wear. Under UV-light several smaller touch-ups appear, especially along the edges and in the area of one female figure. The dimensions including the frame measure 42.5 x 59.7 cm, while the dimensions of the panel are 31.9 x 49.4 cm. (nlu) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
