Original Vintage WWII Nurse Poster Enlist in a Proud Profession Cadet Nurse Corps Large

During World War II there was a strong effort made by the United States Government to bolster the number of nurses serving in the military. As the war was being fought and soldiers were suffering increasing numbers of injuries the demand for nurses was on the rise. This is one of a number of recruitment posters for nurses issued by the Government. This is the larger sized variant of this poster and it is extremely rare in this size. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

She has light-colored hair and wears a beret. This is a great example of a recruitment poster that completely disassociated joining the nurse corp with the horrors of war. This collection is from Dr. David Orzeck by descent to his daughter Lida Orzeck and the entire collection is offered without reserve. Lida Orzeck came across more than 750 vintage war posters from World War I and World War II in her familyâ€™s home basement that her father, David Orzeck, a Brooklyn doctor, had meticulously collected. Discovered in 1970, the posters â€" of which few pristine prints remain with the exception of the National Archives and the Library of Congress â€" were in mint condition, neatly catalogued and folded in brown wrapping paper from grocery stores. Size: 22"L x 28"H Weight: < 1 ounce Provenance: Dr. David Orzeck Condition: Poster has original fold marks and has not been exposed to sunlight, thus preserving the vibrant colors.
