The Exploits of Fidelity Dove, first edition, initialed inscription from the author on front free endpaper, endpapers lightly browned with light foxing, original cloth, rather sunned, 8vo, [1924]. ⁂ Very scarce collection of stories featuring a female criminal (it was later printed under the author's other pseudonym of Roy Vickers. Ellery Queen, in his bibliography, The Detective Story, was unaware of this title, only listing the 1935 edition. Exceedingly scarce with any inscription from the author - we can trace no other like copy at auction. The inscription seems to urge the unknown recipient not to use this book as a form of moral guidance.

William Page Portrait of Dr. Edward Ludlow

          Est: $400 - $600

William Page (NY, 1811-1885) Portrait of Dr. Edward Ludlow. Edward Hunter Ludlow (1810-1884) was an American physician and real estate broker. He was a grandfather of Anna Hall Roosevelt, the wife of Elliott Roosevelt (socialite) (brother of President Theodore Roosevelt) and mother of First Lady of the United States Eleanor Roosevelt. Measures 14.25 x 12.25 inches image size and 17.5 x 15.5 inches framed. Good condition with restoration including inpainting. Provenance: Estate of David Milot. David was a Real Estate Broker by trade and a passionate, lifelong collector of anything of quality that caught his eye. His collection of fine art, bronzes, designer decor, period furniture, mid-century furniture, designer furniture, Chinese antiques and more are among some of the finest examples available. David's knowledge, or perhaps more accurately, "his eye" for quality, was usually the most refined of anyone in the room. David purchased thousands of items over the years at auctions, estate sales, and antique stores so any additional provenance is not readily available. These treasures were truly found "in the wild," and that's how David liked it. If lot is absent of a condition report one may be requested via email.
