Benjamin Edwards, Digital Inkjet Drawing, The Cloud, 2010

    Est: $960 - $1,200

Unique digital inkjet drawing on paper USA, 2010 Benjamin Edwards (b. 1970) - American artist and writer 'The Cloud (Among the Towers)' Signed and dated in pencil lower right 'Ben Edwards 2010' Framed and matted Image dimensions: 20 x 20 in. (50.8 x 50.8 cm.) Overall dimensions: 28 x 28 in. (71.1 x 71.1 cm.) Very good condition Provenance: Greenberg Van Doren Gallery, New York Exhibited: Nassau, Currents, Nassau County Museum of Art, June 5 - September 12, 2010 Densely detailed, "The Cloud (Among the Towers)" by Benjamin Edwards explores contemporary society as a visionary landscape; a lone computer-generated woman runs in front of a utopian skyscraper city, at once instantly recognizable yet utterly foreign. Composed and layered with transparencies, perspective and figure are continually shifted, reflecting the society back towards the viewer. Executed in 2010, this digital inkjet print is signed and dated by the artist. The image measures 20 x 20 inches. It was exhibited at the exhibition "Currents" at the Nassau County Museum of Art in 2010. In overall good condition. Benjamin Edwards (American, b. 1970) Benjamin Edwards was born in Iowa City, Iowa in 1970, and lives and works in Washington D.C. Edwards densely detailed paintings explore contemporary society as hallucinatory and visionary landscapes, composed and layered with transparencies and shifts in figure and ground. Edwards deploys a seemingly inexhaustible dictionary of corporate identities and image branding, obtained from disparate sources, both high and low, found and invented, which are fragmented and spliced into historical designs and structures of city buildings and plans (including those never built and/or destroyed) populated with hybrid figures or 'automatons'. Edwards has exhibited widely in the United States, Europe and Asia. His work is included in such museum collections as the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, PA and The Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
