        Edward Edwards, ARA (British, 1738-1806) Italianate landscape with figures and cattle by a lake indistinctly signed lower left gouache h:13 w:20 cm Other Notes: Edward Edwards was a friend and follower of Paul Sandby, who studied in Italy. He taught Perspective at the Royal Academy and was also employed as a theatrical scene painter in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He was the author of "Anecdotes of Painters", published posthumously in 1808. Edwards was elected ARA in 1773 and known for his many fine topographical views of the north-east of England.
