Sydenham Teast Edwards (British, 1768-1819). Collection of four hand colored botanical engravings from Curtis' Botanical Magazine, circa 1802-1807, all with publisher and date information in lower margin (one significantly faded). Botanical engravings contained in matching glazed frames with hand painted green and yellow twisted ribbons with tasseled ends on mats. Each with label on verso from Branca Inc., Chicago, Illinois. Each framed approximately 17.9" x 13.9".

Sydenham Teak Edwards (1768-1819) ist ein bekannter englischer Illustrator von Botanikzeitschriften, u. a. war er auch für das "Botanical Magazine" tätig. Die in leuchtendem und kräftigem Kolorit abgebildeten Pflanzen zeigen die in Großbritannien heimischen Blumen und Sträucher. Jede Tafel erhält einen beschreibenden Text, der u. a. den lateinischen Namen, die Familie, Gattung und Ordnung benennt sowie eine kurze Historie angibt. – Minimal braunfleckig. Text selten mit hs. Anmerkungen, Tafeln meist mit Abklatsch. Sehr schöne Ausgabe.
