Water damage on reverse somewhat apparent at upper edge of work. Panel sits within metal frame and is adhered to support. A few scattered paint losses at center left, upper left and lower left. No evidence of restoration under UV inspection.

Lower left corner had broken off and is reattached, with corresponding areas of repair. Scattered areas of small scattered paint losses at upper right, center right, and lower center. A slight bow to panel, with some evidence of water staining on the reverse.

      Camilo Egas (Quito, 1889 - Nueva York, 1962) "Campesinos con flauta" Óleo sobre tela. Firmado. Al dorso titulado. Hacia 1920. Cursó en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de Quito. En 1911 recibió una beca para estudiar en la Academia Real de Roma, donde estuvo hasta 1914. Después en San Fernando de Madrid y Colarossi de París. En 1925 se instaló en Ecuador, donde un año más tarde fundaba "Hélices", el primer periódico de arte. Creador del Indigenismo, corriente a la que se adscriben pintores como Guayasamín, Kigman y Mena Franco, todos sus discípulos. En 1927 se autoexilió a Nueva York, convirtiéndose en una de las figuras más emblemáticas de la cultura neoyorkina. Entre 1935 y 1962 ocupó el cargo de director de la Escuela de Pintura de la New School for Social Research. A fines de los años 1970, el Banco Central del Ecuador, creó el Museo Camilo Egas Medidas: 58,5 x 38, 5 cm.
