The original lacquer was restored. The furniture measures 72.7 x 51 x 50 cm, the seating height is 44 cm. (nlu) Egon Eiermann (1904-1970) Egon Eiermann was born in Neuendorf in today's Potsdam-Babelsberg. He was a professor of architecture at the Technische Hochschule in Karlsruhe and is considered one of the most influential architects of the postwar era. Eiermann studied architecture under Hans Poelzig at the Technische Hochschule in Berlin. He worked among others for the Berliner Elektrizitätswerke. From the 1930s, he designed several high-rise buildings in and around Berlin, temporarily along with Fritz Jaenecke. In the 1950s, he met Walter Gropius, Marcel Breuer and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Among Eiermann's most famous buildings counts the new building of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church on the Kurfürstendamm in Berlin. In addition to his architectural works, Eiermann's furniture designs are renowned internationally. The well-known ‘Eiermann rack’ still stands today in almost every architectural office. The design is especially captivating for its construction of single wooden latches and their linear effect. Four latches have been ingeniously elongated and serve as stands. The chair was inspired by garden or beach chairs. Dimensions of the chair: 65 x 45 x 70 cm. It is in very good condition with minor signs of age and wear. Egon Eiermann (1904-1970) Egon Eiermann was born in Neuendorf in today's Potsdam-Babelsberg. He was a professor of architecture at the Technische Hochschule in Karlsruhe and is considered one of the most influential architects of the postwar era. Eiermann studied architecture under Hans Poelzig at the Technische Hochschule in Berlin. He worked among others for the Berliner Elektrizitätswerke. From the 1930s, he designed several high-rise buildings in and around Berlin, temporarily along with Fritz Jaenecke. In the 1950s, he met Walter Gropius, Marcel Breuer and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Among Eiermann's most famous buildings counts the new building of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church on the Kurfürstendamm in Berlin. In addition to his architectural works, Eiermann's furniture designs are renowned internationally. The well-known 'Eiermann rack' still stands today in almost every architectural office.
