Under the Direction of The Commissioners on the Public Records of the Kingdom. London: George Eyre and Andrew Spoitiswoode, 1833. 8vo. Red gilt labels, blindstamped leather, marbled endpapers, all edges marbled. Paper number labels on spines. Fair. Vol. I is dampstained; the stain shows on the corner of the cover, and extends to the front and back endpapers and pages, and to several pages scattered throughout. Vol. II inner hinge split at a few pages from the front. Both have overall edgewear and rubbing, losses/tears to top of spines.

Period marbled sheep, morocco spine label. Heavy corner dampstain at end, scattered minor foxing, upper hinge cracked, covers somewhat bowed. Apparently the first American edition recounting Lord Amherst's diplomatic mission to China (first published London, 1817).
